Do I need to have a permit to install an EV charger at my home?

Yes! In Ontario, if you’re hiring someone to do electrical work in your home, by law, it must be a Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC) with an ECRA/ESA license. Unlicensed or unpermitted work is simply not worth the risk. The ESA inspector will confirm that the installation meets the safety standards and that the energy used by the EV charger does not exceed the capacity of the service panel at your residence. 

Does my house have enough power to charge an electric vehicle?

Absolutely! Electric vehicles can be charged at your home and can use either Level 1 or Level 2 charging. It all depends on how you use your vehicle and what charger suits you best.
